Belonging at SDD

Our process to dance education is very different from the standard model.

We are constantly rethinking systemic and industry standards, some of which are outdated, toxic, and counterintuitive to cultivating a culture of belonging.

By standing strong in our positioning that dance is an art form for all, we are listening and learning about how we can best achieve our mission.

BELONGING STATEMENT

At Stage Door Dance Productions, we are committed to redefining the power of the youth extracurricular and performing arts experience through a whole child approach that celebrates the importance of each individual. We firmly believe that dance is for everyone, and that it should be presented in healthy versus harmful ways.

We value the individuality of ALL students. Students of all genders, from any religious, racial, or cultural background, and students with physical or neurological differences are welcomed, celebrated, and supported.

Discrimination and/or bullying of any kind has no place in our institution.

We believe in upholding principles of equity, respect, and fairness in all aspects of our operations, including, but not limited to, admissions, instruction, performance opportunities, and interactions among our students, staff, and families.

We pledge to actively listen to the voices of our dancers and community members, to continuously educate ourselves, and to take meaningful action to dismantle barriers and create a more equitable and just dance environment.

We envision a world where every person is valued, respected,  and supported authentically in their pursuit of excellence.

Belonging should not be an ideal, it should be a lived reality.

We want to do our part to make it happen.

Move together.

Belong forever.

Diversified Dress Code

In Summer of 2024, we will be piloting a diversified dress which will allow students to mix and match attire to make sure they feel comfortable and confident.

More details will be coming soon!
