What are You Doing Now?

I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in Dance Performance, Choreography, and Theory. I am also a member of the UNC Charlotte 49ers Gold Dusters Dance Team, as well as a member of Alpha Delta Pi.

What is the most valuable lesson you learned at SDD?

The most valuable lesson I gained from my time at SDD was the power of women. Women are strong and can do anything. I learned this through all the amazing teachers at SDD, who are all amazing women I look up too.

Advice You’d Give Current Dancers:

Advice I would give the dancers of the today would be to always perform like it is your last dance. Make every performance count and give your fullest self to each dance.

Favorite SDD Moment:

My favorite SDD memory is when the power went out at recital. It was super crazy to believe that had happened but everyone worked hard to pull the show back together. I loved the adrenaline that came with those shows we did with the power out and it was a good bonding experience for everyone.

What’s next, and how can we keep up with your success?

I plan to finish my degree in college and get a BFA in Dance. I am hoping to either join a professional company and/or join and NFL or NBA dance team. A way to keep up with my success is through my instagram @avery_allen22.
