Studio Policies

Thank you for taking the time to read and agree to our studio policies!

This information keeps our community in alignment, which creates a welcoming copacetic for all.

The policies below apply to:

  • the 2023-2024 Dance Season

  • the 2024 Summer Session

  • the 2024-2025 Dance Season

SAFETY: For the safety of all, our buildings are only open to students, staff, and scheduled guests.

HEALTH & WELLNESS: If a participant is feeling sick, symptomatic or unwell, please do not come to class. If a participant mentions or shows they are feeling unwell during programming, we will notify a grown-up for pick-up. If a participant is physically injured (wearing a brace, boot, etc.), we will require medical documentation outlining appropriate participation guidelines. Physical injuries may view class and take notes, if appropriate.

COVID-19 DISCLAIMER: We continue to be diligent re: wellness and safety at Stage Door Dance Productions and will continue to have health, safety, and hygiene procedures in place. Note that any public location where people are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit.

2024 SUMMER SESSION TUITION: Summer programming deposits are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable, but are transferable in the event you need to adjust your programming dates. The balance is due prior to the first day of the event (for camps) or by June 1st (for classes/ Technique Accelerator). All payments will be made through Jackrabbit Parent Portal. If you are not comfortable paying on the portal, you may make your payment over the phone at 919-720-3036 (Brier Creek) or 919-397-1925 (Lake Boone). Please be sure to read our payment policy, as well. If your deposit is not paid, your space will not be reserved.

2023-2024 DANCE SEASON TUITION: Tuition amounts are detailed on our website and via the parent portal. For our main dance season, the monthly tuition is billed by class. Tuition is paid in a flat, monthly fee. Monthly tuition accounts for long months, short months, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break (short holiday breaks are elifible for make-up classes; please see the “Attendance and Make-Up Policy” for details). Pro-rations are not available for this inclusive pricing, and your tuition will not change on a monthly basis. The only months that are exceptions to this rule are August 2023 and June 2024.

Your May tuition payment will include an additional payment in the amount of 30% for the partial month of June, which is based upon our 2024 Recital Dates (June 7th-9th, 2024). Some dancers may not have a class in June (only dress rehearsal and recital); however, the tuition proration is calculated to account for long and short months, as well as the rehearsal and performance process. Payment for June is taken in May to ensure all accounts are paid in full before entering the very busy week of recital performances. If any billing updates are required for the month of June due to performance adaptation/rescheduling, it will be communicated in advance.

Please be sure to read and adhere to our payment policy, as well.

August 2024 will be billed at 75% of your regular monthly tuition (the season begins August 12th, 2024). Your May tuition payment will include an additional payment in the amount of 25% for the partial month of June, which is based upon our 2025 Recital Dates (June 6th-8th, 2025). ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP POLICY: It is important for your dancer to attend class on a regular basis, but we understand that absences will occur. You may attend any class style within your cohort to make-up for absences within 30 days of the missed class if it is within the same session (e.g. Summer 2024 Classes must be made up in the Summer Session and 2024-2025 Dance Season absences must be made up within the corresponding dance season). Instructor, choreography, and class components may vary depending on your make-up choice. NEW:

Absences and Make-Up Clasess will now be scheduled directly through your SDD Parent Portal. Make-up classes should be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Excessive absences are not conducive to the best learning environment for the student and absences do not qualify for tuition refunds. You may also make-up classes for inclement weather closings as well as shorter holiday closings (Labor Day, Halloween, MLK Day, and Memorial Day). Spot TV viewing is not available for make-up classes.

CALENDAR: All studio calendar information, including holiday, events, and current/future recital information, may be found here.

COMMUNICATION: We communicate in a variety of ways, including: our two email listservs (through Jackrabbit and Constant Contact) and our SDD App. If you are not receiving information through these channels, immediately let us know. You can also stay updated on studio news and happenings via our social media portals.

COSTUME FEE: For the Spring Recital/ Year-End Performance, costumes will be ordered for each class. For the 2024 Recital, through November 1st, 2023, the spring costume fee is $85 (inclusive of sales tax) per recital class (this will be auto billed and due on 11/1/23). All costume orders paid and purchased after 11/1/23 will be subject to an additional $10 fee per costume for additional shipping and handling. Costume fees are non-refundable. If a student withdraws prior to the recital, they will be able to pick-up their costume the week after costume distribution begins (generally, in early-mid May). All costumes must be picked up by June 1st, or they will become the property of Stage Door Dance. Costumes are ordered in the fall semester, and orders placed later in the season may be unavailable. We are unable to transfer costumes for different class days and times after February 1st. The 2025 Recitalpalooza Costume Fee pricing will be included in your 2024-2025 Dance Season Welcome Packet. We anticipate the fee will be approximately same as the 2023-2024 Dance Season.

DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR POLICY: We will make every effort to work with our students to encourage personal responsibility and accountability for their actions. We understand the importance of the learning process, and we expect studio rules to be followed. In the event a behavior is disrupting a class, it may result in the following: (a) 3 verbal warnings to the dancer, (b) consultation with the student and/or parents (depending on the situation), and (c) program dismissal. In the event of a student dismissal, the studio reserves the right to cancel enrollment for the following reasons: (a) non-payment or excessive late payment of fees, (b) lack of observance of rules or policies of the studio, (c) student has needs we cannot adequately meet with our current program, (d) physical and/or verbal abuse of staff or children, by parent or child, which includes any and all forms of bullying, on site or through digital media.

DRESS CODE POLICY: Our Dress Code Policy is detailed on our Dress Code Sheet. Please pay close attention to the apparel, shoe, and hair requirements for each style of dance. If students are not dressed appropriately, they will receive one verbal warning. For future classes, they may be asked to sit and observe the class (while taking notes) if their lack of preparedness prohibits their ability to safely participate. Our dress code requirements reflect our desire to promote a class-act, distraction free environment that promotes the visibility of the lines of the body for the varying styles of dance.

FACILITY RULES: 1. Parents are expected to be prompt in drop-off and pick-up of their dancer at their designated zone. If you are a late arrival, please use the doorbell located at the '“Backstage’ door facing TW Alexander (Brier Creek) or the door with the logo facing Lake Boone Trail (Lake Boone). Please wait patiently and do not pull or aggressively knock on the door- it can be alarming. 2. Students MUST wait inside the building to be picked up. 3. All students should use the restroom prior to dance class and arrive dressed and ready to dance. 4. Please do not interrupt the instructors during the class sessions as their focus is on leading an excellent class for all dancers. 5. All questions and concerns should be relayed through our administrative team via phone or email and will be responded to within 24-48 hours. 6. Stage Door Dance Productions is not responsible for unsupervised children outside of their designated class time(s).

FORCE DE MAJEURE: In the event the studio must close due to force de majeure, we will transfer our programming to online learning. If your family would like to opt out of online learning, a 30-day written withdrawal notice will be required. Tuition billing will stop at the end of the withdrawal period, and you will be responsible for tuition during that time. If the studio is forced to close and cannot operate via online learning, we will freeze accounts until further notice.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: Stage Door Dance generally follows Wake County Public School System's schedule for inclement weather. If Wake County is closed, the studio will usually be closed; however, there may be instances where the studio will be open. For inclement weather information, please rely on our communication methods. We will communicate any closing information in a timely manner. Missed classes will be made-up the same way as a regular absence. Classes missed because of inclement weather will not be a reason for tuition reimbursement.

LIABILITY: I understand and acknowledge that there is a risk of injury inherent in dance activities and that personal injury or damage to property may result during participation in dance and related activities. By signing myself or my child up, I am representing that I/he/she is physically able to safely participate in dance and related activities. I agree to assume all risks associated with my or my child’s participation in dance instruction, rehearsal, performance and related activities. In consideration, of receiving dance instruction from Stage Door Dance Productions, LLC, I hereby waive, release, and discharge all present and future claims and liabilities of any kind, whether for bodily injury, property damage, or other loss, arising out of my or my child’s participation in dance and related activities, including but not limited to dance instruction, rehearsals, and performances, whether conducted on or off studio premises. I also acknowledge that I am responsible for delivering my child to the studio and picking her/him up and that the studio is not responsible for a child that leaves the premises.

MEDIA: Stage Door Dance Productions has permission to use dancer's likeness in advertisements, social media, news releases, and/or on the website. If you are opposed to the use of your dancer's image, please let us know in writing, via email, and we will accommodate your request. If you are a no media student, we will reach out specifically in regards to performances that may be recorded or live streamed to determine the best course of action.

MEDICAL ATTENTION/ALLERGIES: If your dancer has any medical or behavioral problems, conditions, or concerns OR has ANY particular type of allergy, please let us know about the condition in detail. It is very important that we are aware of your child's needs PRIOR to their enrollment.

PARENT OBSERVATION: We do not offer indoor viewing or lobby areas. Parents are not permitted into the studio classrooms unless it is during a designated parent observation event. If you require administrative assistance, please email info@stagedordance.com or call 919-720-3036 (Brier Creek) or 919-397-1925 (Lake Boone) so we may give your concern the attention it deserves. Instructors should not be interrupted with administrative questions, as it cuts into the dancers’ classroom time. You are able to view your child in class via Spot TV, our remote viewing app, during their designated class time at any time. Please read more about SpotTV below.

PAYMENT: Your monthly tuition payment is DUE on the 1st of each month and will be posted by the 28th of the preceding month. Stage Door Dance accepts credit/debit cards as payment through the Jackrabbit Parent Portal. You may fully control your SDD Account and payments via the SDD Parent Portal. We encourage you to take advantage of our 1st of the month auto billing option. If you do not opt for auto billing, payments are due by the 5th of each month unless we have received and approved a written payment plan to info@stagedoordance.com by the 5th of each month.

  • Payments that are not received by the 10th of each month will be subject to a non-negotiable $25 late payment fee.

  • If your account is overdue beyond one month of tuition, your account will freeze until payment is received. During this time, your dancer(s) will not be able to participate in class(es) until the account is paid.

All accounts must be paid in full in order to receive merchandise/costumes and/or participate in performances.

For merchandise, events, workshops, travel, and other fees, payment will be expected by the published deadline. We reserve the right to add a late fee, if necessary.

RECITAL/YEAR-END PERFORMANCE TICKET INFO/FEES: With our Recitalpalooza model, a "Recital Fee" covers a designated number of wristbands for the weekend, media (livestream and recording of all routines), and a fun, memorable event. The 2024 Recitalpalooza Fee will be $75 per family. This fee is billed with May/June Tuition and is due on May 1st. The 2025 Recitalpalooza Fee will be included in the 2024-2025 Dance Season Welcome Packet. We anticipate the fee will be close in pricing to the 2024 Recitalpalooza Fee.

REGISTRATION FEE: Each dancer is required to pay an annual registration fee of $45.00 per dancer or $65.00 per family (for families with two or more dancers). This fee is non-refundable and covers one full dance season (Aug-June) as well as one Summer Session.

SPOT TV: Our remote viewing app, Spot TV, is a great resource for our dance families. The studio has to manually verify each account for each season/session, so we require a minimum of 72 hours advance for approval. We recommend viewing via the SpotTV app versus a desktop. Because this app is an affiliate partner and we have limited tech support capabilities, please reach out to Spot TV directly (contact@spottv.pro OR 1-844-307-7768) for any user oriented app-related issues or concerns. For safety reasons, screen shots and recording are never permitted and will suspend your ability to use the app. Spot TV is only available for regularly scheduled classes and is not available for make-up classes, private lessons, specialized rehearsals, etc.

STUDENT CONDUCT: All students are expected to arrive to class on time and should always behave in a respectful and appropriate manner. Students will be asked to observe and/or call their parents for early pick-up if behavior is deemed inappropriate. Please note that cell phones and other technological devices may not be used during dance class. If you need to reach your child during dance class, please call the designated studio numbers.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY: We encourage all of our students to complete the full season of dance as a mark of goal achievement; however, we understand mid-year withdrawals may be necessary. If you wish to remove your dancer from our programming, you must submit this form. If you stop coming to dance class, we will never assume that you have withdrawn. You must communicate in order to activate the 30-day notice. The 30-day notice will go into effect per the date of the email received. We will not credit tuition or assume a student has withdrawn for lack of communication and/or excessive absences. During the 30-day notice period, you are still responsible for paying tuition/late fees, and the account will not be deactivated until it is at a zero balance.

**Submission of any registration form indicates that these policies have been read and understood.**
